Every successful venture starts with gigantic vision and fresh ideas. While working on their ambitious projects, there often comes a time when entrepreneurs get bogged down by the routine tasks involved in running a business. As entrepreneurs, you must understand that time is valuable, and it should be invested carefully. Rather than spending it on doing mundane tasks, it should be utilized doing the important things which will help to increase the productivity and efficiency of the business. This does not mean that these mundane tasks are useless, every part of running a business is important, no matter how small, but as it is correctly said some things are worth paying someone else to do. This is where a Virtual Assistant can come to the rescue.
Let us first understand what really is a Virtual Assistant?

Theoretically, a Virtual Assistant is an independent contractor who provides administrative services to clients while operating outside of the client's office. A virtual assistant is a person who provides various support services to entrepreneurs or businesses from a remote location. From digital marketing tasks, sending out email blasts/newsletters, travel arrangements, managing events to scheduling appointments, you can make a virtual assistant do almost anything your other support staff does, except bring you the coffee.
What can Virtual Assistants do?
While a virtual assistant can help us do many things, we will list some of the most common tasks that virtual assistants do.
1. Administrative work
Virtual Assistants can take over all the business duties that a typical administrative assistant does including:
  • Email management
  • Booking appointments
  • Following up with clients and customers
  • Organizing to-do list and calendar
  • File management
  • Making travel arrangements
You can use the time you will save by assigning administrative activities in result-oriented work like identifying prospects, thinking strategically that will fuel the growth of your business.
2. Social Media Management
Nowadays, Social media is a very important element in the marketing plan of every organisation. Your social media presence helps you identify your potential customers and engage with them. Companies spend a boatload of time in managing their social media channels. But you can save this time to focus more on critical business activities with the help of a virtual assistant. Some of the tasks that your social media virtual assistant can be assigned are:
  • Creating profiles on various social channels like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Scheduling posts
  • Keeping update of the latest information on your social profiles
  • Creating and sharing relevant content on your social channels
  • Managing engagement with the followers
  • Measuring statistics and creating reports
Managing a company’s social media presence is a complex task and it is best to hire experts to keep track of latest trends.
3. Research based Tasks
Research is a core part of any company’s growth strategy. With sound insights, you will be a step closer in the growth process. You can hire a virtual assistant to:
  • Perform research based on the instructions
  • Analyse consumer trends
  • Keep an eye on competitors’ products and services
  • Search for new business opportunities
  • Find formats for press releases
  • Search for best practices in your business domain
Virtual Assistants can your company by focusing solely on gathering and analyzing data. You can also ask them to use paid search tools.
4. Customer Service
Customers are of utmost importance in any business. All great businesses are built on the basis of top-class customer services. Also, as most customer service interactions are largely centered on addressing concerns that can be easily answered, you don’t need a high level of expertise here and a virtual assistant can offer email and chat support for your clients.
By hiring virtual email and chat support assistants across different time zones, you can offer 24/7 customer support economically.
5. Data Entry Tasks
Data entry is a tedious and mundane task which is a part of every business. A data entry virtual assistant can do a wide variety of tasks for you including:
  • Database creation and updating
  • Generating reports and entering data into CRM
  • Reviewing data for accuracy
  • Compiling data collected from many sources
6. Content Creation
Content writing is one of the most important of the digital marketing. Having an engaging and regular content can help organisations to attract more traffic to their website. Content creation involves a many steps like research, finding and editing images, writing articles and so on.
Content creation is an activity which can be done from anywhere and does not require presence in office, so virtual assistants can easily take care of this. Also, hiring a professional ensures quality and uniqueness.
7. eCommerce Tasks
With eCommerce industry booming like never before, the headache of eCommerce business owners is also growing.
A virtual eCommerce assistant can help and reduce the burden by doing the following tasks:
  • Order processing
  • Creating SEO-friendly product descriptions
  • Performing competitor analysis
  • Product category management
  • Managing reviews and ratings
  • Handling transactions
  • Providing support via chat or email
Apart from these, we can also discuss and assign other tasks to our virtual assistant.
8. Travel Assistance
Some businesses involve frequent travelling. In this situation, virtual assistants are a great resource to book flights, find hotels, and preparing trip itineraries. The assistants can take advantage of the increasing number of travel research tools and reviews on various sites to come up with the best travel plan. They can also deal with the hassle of navigating different time zones when booking or researching international travel options.
Benefits of Virtual Assistant
Apart from all the uses listed above virtual assistants also provide expert assistance for a fraction of the cost as compared to an in-house assistant. Still confused? Here’s why you should consider hiring a virtual assistant:

1. Lower Business Costs
Reduction in cost is one of the most important reasons to hire virtual assistant. It has been estimated that hiring a virtual assistant can save up to 78% in operating costs per year as compared to a full-time employee. This is because you don’t have to pay out additional benefits or perks, allocate space for work, provide a higher Internet bandwidth, provide snacks or purchase an extra phone or mobile device. You also save cost of interviewing, hiring and training a new employee. It also helps save up on administration costs, such as software licences, HR and office supplies.
2. Increased Productivity
Achieving profitability in a business can be influenced by hiring a virtual assistant because apart from lowering business costs, it also helps increase productivity. This is because it provides you with more time to focus on your core business areas and develop expertise. It also ensures that a professional is involved in managing the appropriate tasks and you can rely on them without worrying. A virtual assistant provides you with time to concentrate on your passions and properly utilise your abilities and strengths. They help you to refocus your attention and realise your goals.
3. Less Hassle
As a business grows and responsibilities increase, help is needed to handle it. The time spent and cost incurred in hiring a new employee is far greater than hiring a virtual assistant for various administrative tasks. Once hired, don’t have to worry about the tax implications, benefits, or other agreements. Nowadays there are many service providers also to hire the best for you based on a profile that you submit. They are not costly and help you the most suitable match based on your needs. They also help ensure that your virtual assistant is never offline and in case of any emergency, they provide you with a fully-prepped cover.
4. Increase Flexibility
Virtual Assistant can help you achieve work life balance by providing you with the benefit of time. Virtual assistants are the perfect solution to many of the day to day business tasks that would otherwise require a part-time or full-time employee. With experts in place, you find time for other important activities, while the business continues to run. In this way it also helps you find time for the things that matter most in life, you feel more satisfied and ultimately become more productive.
5. Achieve Delegation
Many a times small business owners are used to doing everything themselves, though this strategy is not a good one and results in quite a long work week. Working with a remote assistant helps you develop the habit of delegation which becomes helpful over time as the business grows. To achieve a proper co-ordination, the work responsibilities and tasks should be laid down in a clear and precise manner. This also provide one with the time to concentrate more on activities that require your attention. Conclusion
Virtual Assistants are no longer just people working from remote locations. Now, they are skilled professionals and provide a wide range of services. They reduce your workload significantly. They help put processes in place for continuous growth and scalability in the future. Many organisations have also come up to assist in hiring of virtual assistants. This has further eased the process and they also ensure continuous support.
Hire a virtual assistant and start planning what you would do with the few extra hours.

Augmented Reality Will Soon Be Everywhere

Augmented Reality Will Soon Be Everywhere
Augmented reality (AR) is the emergent technology that brings digital imagery superimposed onto our 3 dimensional space. Augmented reality has numerous applications in every modern industry. This overview will discuss augmented reality and how its applications can be utilized in the marketing industry. This technology has the opportunity to change the way consumers experience advertisements and shopping experience. Whether it's online or at the shopping mall, AR could provide information to relevant products that will change the way people make purchases.
We're going to see how AR works for marketing. Found myself exploring augmented reality a lot throughout this month and realizing there are many applications in every industry, to better understand AR’s capability in marketing I will explore how it will be applied to industry and education. This overview will include details about how it functions in other fields and it's summarized development history to see AR’s potential in full clarity.

Through a screen or projector, usually on a heads-up display or handheld tablet, the technology can render an object in the space of reality or dynamically overlaying information in a real-world context. It takes virtual objects placed in a real setting that can be interacted with and modified in real time as well as be aligned with the environment or situation. The big distinction between augmented and virtual reality is that AR embellishes the existing environment with relative data rather than being fully submerged in a digital world.
In architecture, furniture and fixtures can be visualized in an empty space so you can get a good perspective and plan out the interior design before making any purchases. You can overlay the plumbing and electrical systems through the walls so modifications can be prepared and executed with minimal mistakes. In education, instructors and experts can guide trainees step by step through any process with direct hands-on assistance. As these applications have been applied in these industries, they also can have a tremendous impact on the marketing world as well. The day when everyone has an augmented capable device in their pocket, customers can receive information about products that they walk past in the mall. Showrooms can be visualized, modified, and showcased to clients before any physical action is executed or money is spent.
AR is a vessel for which a colossal amount of information can be transported and transcribed for purposes serving potentially every industry. There is more data than we know to do with but AR gives us an avenue to put that data to use. With all the available reference points, cloud data can be used to render environments and objects with new clarity. This would provide a lot of information that can be transmitted to the user and enhance their decision making. By having access to expert personnel and equipment remotely, the learning opportunities could be boundless. Experiments can be observed in cheaper and safer environments. Conceptualization of models will be understood literally inside and out which has not been possible previously.
Understanding how augmented reality works becomes clearer when seeing how it can be used in different fields. The main focuses of this overview will be the potential uses in the marketing, industrial, and education fields. Customers will have the opportunity to try a virtual product in a real space with multiple modifications before they make a purchase. Large-scale projects can be communicated instantly and remotely with consultants and clients. When modifying a building or venue, the entire plumbing and electrical systems can be overlaid through the user display to save time without having to remove any fixtures. Training will be significantly enhanced by the overlaying capabilities and remote instruction on demand that the technology offers. Teachers and students will be able to observe experiments and lessons from perspectives that were not previously possible.
Brief History
The development of the components of AR have been in the works since the 1960’s and has only recently been able to unleash its potential. From the computer interfaces to the wearable computers in the 1980’s, decades went on as developers struggled to render images in a 3D in a real space. In 2000, the first augmented reality video game was developed by Tom Caudwell who also coined the term in 1990 when exploring pilot training simulations.
AR has been growing since 2008 and is expected to continue to grow into a $72.7 billion industry by 2024. In 2016, Pokémon Go had explosive success as an augmented reality game that drew in $3.65 billion in revenue. There has been an eagerness to capitalize on this new and exciting technology. As companies develop their own augmented reality solutions, it could present opportunities for new products. AR will be so involved with potentially every field to the point where it becomes the product itself. For instance, as construction companies integrate and develop AR software to guide their projects, heavy equipment companies could put money into engineering their own proprietary software and hardware to add value to their existing products. CATERPILLAR and John Deere could find themselves racing to see who can produce the best heads-up displaying cab windshield in their tractors.

There is hope to see everyone with an augmented reality capable device available in their pocket or handbag. As augmented technology becomes more reliable, companies are doing their best to compete in the so-called “battle of the smart glasses”. Just as our cell phones can be used for personal and professional applications, the potential for wearable AR devices is predicted to be equally integrated. Giant tech firms desire to be the company that breaks the ground in wearable augmented reality for its incredible perceived value. Google has tried this with their Google Glass and Microsoft has made progress on their Hololens. Dozens of prototypes are in the works, but none have yet to stick. Whoever can come up with an acceptable solution will find themselves in a very profitable situation. These companies are faced with implementation challenges that have been present the last few decades. Hardware is often bulky, expensive, uninviting, and not reliable enough for early adopters to fully buy into the idea (i.e. Google glass). There are limitations with the real time data transfers required to create a seamless experience that 5G offers to improve. As technology becomes smaller and faster, there will be enormous improvements on these wearable technologies. Once this technology is fully integrated into people's everyday life, the world of marketing will have endless opportunities to interact with prospective customers, clients, and everyone involved when running all manner of campaigns.
How it works
What makes up the augmented reality ensemble are several components that lay the foundation of its capabilities. Visualization is the technology that brings realistic and coordinated images that are relevant to the user's needs. This visualization will also use artificial intelligence (AI) to understand when it is appropriate to display relevant information to the task at hand. This is a delicate balance where the visual ergonomics play a huge role to prevent intrusive and unnecessary images that might be detrimental rather than helpful. If the ergonomics do not respond to the user's input intuitively or naturally, the visuals will make the user motion sick or the untimely displays of information could be incredibly obstructive to the view. AR needs a camera to analyze the environment to which they will overlay their images. There needs to be a user interface whether it be hardware with physical buttons and gyroscopes or software recognition that responds to hang gestures and voice commands. Several types of displays that can either be worn on the head so that the images can be projected onto a lens or into your eye directly. And finally, tracking systems are required to accurately orient the virtual processes in the real world space. This requires countless precision calculations to lineup the augmented images with real reference points to minimize disorientation of the user. The enormous amount of computations required to be seamless is very complex. For the technology to be useful for the early majority of customers, AR must make fluid calculations in 1/1000th of a second without overtaxing the computer.
The key capabilities of AR are summed up by their ability to conceptualize and display relevant data in innovative ways. This brings to light vast opportunities for local and distance sharing. With shared components from virtual reality, the capabilities could transcend distance, time, and scale. Abstract concepts will be able to be explored internally and externally through the eyes of the user, like holding a digitally projected human brain in your hands and then being able to peel back layer by layer while also observing amplifying information about the blood flow and mapped synapsis. It will be able to replicate physical settings in the physical world that are either too big or too small to explore conveniently. Rare and specific situations can be created so that personnel in training can experience and practice in these conditions with none of the actual consequences or limitations.
Industry 4.0 is what experts are calling the concept of integrating emerging technologies designed to evolve the processes involved with manufacturing, distributing, training, support, quality assurance, research and development, and much more. These vast improvements are what identifies the next generation of the Industrial Revolution. The main focus of this generation is interoperability, virtualization, and modularity. AR plans to not only supplement legacy equipment but support it in its entirety, from assembly to operation and maintenance. Virtualization will come in by digitizing parts as 3D objects and overlaying existing processes with pertinent information. And modularity brings to the table the endless contributions and customizations that can be added to a process from any number of industries around the world.
If a retail store or showcase room needs to be redesigned for a marketing campaign, an augmented demonstration could lay out endless options before the deciding parties have to make a decision. With AR tracking systems, digital markers can be associated with physical markers to accurately map a physical environment spatially. That way when a building needs to be upgraded or modified, less personnel and time are required for the project surveying process. If a client wants to make specific adjustments, this can be made in real time when communicating with other users or contractors regardless of distance, which greatly reduces confusion in communication when planning out the scope of a project. The client and the team will be able to see every detail they wish to customize as if they were both holding the final result in their own hands. Without the need to move around physical barriers or wait for personnel to arrive, it will save a tremendous amount of time when needing to make decisions with consultants, contractors, or other shareholders.
To bring further ease to the upgrading process, electricians and plumbers can see wires and pipes through the walls and get important readouts without having to disrupt the infrastructure at all. These visuals can be enhanced or color coordinated to display amplifying information about the routing systems. Such as which pipes carry hot water and in which direction the water flows. Wires could be labeled which are fiber optic and others are for power and then further identify specific voltages.
For quality assurance, workers will be able to have overlays of proper procedures and instructions when conducting their work. Examples such as assembly or welding can have overlays that verify proper application and could keep close records of parts and lists of accomplished tasks. Along with maintenance of equipment, the programming could notice imperfections and suggest tune-ups of expired components that have been logged through the system. And to ensure that all the necessary steps are being followed, projected instructions are readily available every step of the way without having to take one’s eyes or hands off the project. Workers can have personalized training conducted through their device while they are working to verify proficiency or to learn something new. Off-site engineers can be called upon remotely to examine any part of the warehouse processes for inspection or to offer assistance to team members that need help. These experts from any profession can offer a tremendous amount of value without the constraints of distance or time which is a great opportunity for knowledge outsourcing.
Training and education is at the forefront of augmented reality’s capabilities. Over the decades, for as long as it's been in development AR has been used to better conceptualize scenarios to help people understand something with more clarity and detail. Tom Caudell developed some of the first heads-up display (HUD) technology in the early 90’s that assisted airplane pilots in their training and helped Boeing envision their airplane designs with digital 3D models.
Teaching people something new or just bringing them up to speed will be leaps and bounds more efficient. Classrooms, powerpoints, and instructional video teaching doesn't always capture the imagination as effectively as some teachers might hope. AR technology offers perspectives and insights that are otherwise not possible within the parameters of reality. The opportunity to interact with the subject by hand presents a more intuitive way of learning as opposed to reading it from a book or watching a video. Study labs currently attempt to let students interact with the topic to better help them learn, but oftentimes these labs are limited in resources and space. Teachers are sometimes limited in their bandwidth when students need individual help and may not have the time to give every student the appropriate amount of attention. As a student in a crowded class, rather than having to look over the shoulder of a dozen of your classmates, you can be front-and-center observing the situation with your instructions available at the corner of your eye. The same goes for the teacher. Rather than breathing down a student’s neck they can see through the student’s eyes and record your activity. These teachers and experts can offer their lectures and instructions from anywhere in the world with minimal miscommunication. The recordings of the students' work can be reviewed and critiqued in order to track improvement over time. Having a curriculum assisting through headset allows a student to go at their own pace and get just as much hands-on experience as every student. This will increase the efficiency and quality of the education.
As testament, there was an experiment conducted by Kirikkale University that saw impressive results when it came to performance, information retention, and improved attitude in students working with augmented reality. Not only was the learning process easier but the enthusiasm in which the students approached the subject was significantly increased. The students were more excited about the material they were learning in the labs and were able to perform better than the students who didn't have the assistance of AR.
Augmented reality has great potential to improve the customer experience. With proper tracking systems emplaced on personal augmented reality devices, customers could walk past a business or product and investigate it’s specifications and pricing options. There are opportunities to even customize the physical product with an augmented projection available modifications. If a customer walks into a car dealership showroom, they could find a car they like and use their smart glasses or cell phone to explore the vehicle in different colors with different accessories. This could even be applied to simple things such as a toaster or a desk lamp. Tennis shoes can be tried on at the store for a good fit and have the capability to customize to the heart's content digitally then ordering their desired modification online. As people are engaging with a product and considering their options, coupons or similar products could be suggested on their AR display.
Companies such as Ikea and Amazon are already using and developing AR software that projects a product through your phone into your current living-space.

The software uses your camera to measure the space of the room and create a digital simulation of what a piece of furniture would look like in your home. This better helps the customer visualize how the product will fit in their space and would significantly influence their purchase. These companies have given the user options to save floor plans, kind of like a shopping cart, that a customer can create digitally to assist them in decision-making. This process greatly increases engagement with the product which would undoubtedly lead to more conversions in the long run. Getting a head start on this integration into their marketing has shown positive influences. Not only is it easier to visualize yourself with the product, being able to use this technology gives the product a more premium feel. This perceived value makes the customer more likely to trust the item they are already envisioning in their lives. Giving the prospective customer all the options to try any color or size of their product lets them know that the company cares that they’re happy with the product before they purchase.
For campaign planning, marketing companies can collaborate with their clients much more effectively and remotely. The use of AR technology gives the user tremendous ability to multitask in ways that were much more difficult to do previously. This will allow everyone to set up a venue or a showroom and make modifications as they see fit. Once these projects are complete they can be distributed to promote these ideas to shareholders and other invested parties. This will help project managers conceptualize space management for adding or upgrading new products and fixtures.
Although this technology has immeasurable potential, it is not universally well received. There have been hesitations in the retail industry because there are some painful trade-offs among the investment options that could prove unprofitable. Is it worth investing millions of dollars to transition your services or product with augmented reality or would your money be better spent improving your current situation? There's still the big question if the AR technology will influence a purchase or would they rather spend their money on more affordable and traditional substitutes. Companies could use that investment to make their current products better and cheaper rather than diverting their resources towards AR integration that customers might not even like. So there is still caution when making big technological decisions when incorporating AR into their industry.
In conclusion, implications of augmented reality can benefit every industry and create new markets branching off of those industries. Seeing how augmented reality can be used in other industries better helps us understand its applications in marketing. AR can save a tremendous amount of money by using fewer people and making their time substantially more efficient. Integration of augmented reality into the new industrial generation allows its workers to smoothly interact with their environment. Capabilities of head mounted gear greatly benefit consumers with easy to use interfaces. Hand gestures and voice commands will be able to pull up information and interact with smart devices in the user's world creating intuitive and easy engagement.
There are still a lot of hurdles to overcome before these concepts can be realized. As time progresses, more challenges will be uncovered as we simultaneously learn about more of what would contribute to its success. Whether it be in marketing, entertainment or construction, the potential to create reality-enhancing applications will contribute significant value in many ways. With all this opportunity ahead of us it will be interesting to continue examining what is available and creatively utilizing AR to keep driving development forward.
