Every Play From Week 12's Top Waiver Targets

WEEK 12 WAIVERS

Gus Edwards
Every Play Weeks 1-5 | Every Play Weeks 6-8 | Every Play Weeks 9-11
All aboard the Gus Bus! With the news of both Mark Ingram and J.K. Dobbins being sidelined after testing positive for COVID, Gus Edwards figures to see a Thanksgiving Feast of work in Thursday’s Week 12 tilt. Even though Edwards tied his season-low in snap count during Week 11, he will likely be the only active RB on the roster aside from Justice Hi!l. Ingram and Dobbins vacate the 60 total snaps they played in Week 11, as well as the 19 total touches they received. Traveling to Pittsburgh for a bitter divisional rivalry matchup may seem daunting, but Edwards turned in his best performance of the season in the first meeting with the Steelers, going 16-87-1 on just 26 snaps. He also scored touchdowns in matchups against stiff run defenses in Philadelphia and Indianapolis, albeit with much less impressive yardage totals. The Ravens turn to Edwards when they need physicality from their run game, and Week 12 should require plenty of that. While this is likely a 1-week rental, it could pay dividends during a crucial week in fantasy seasons.

Carlos Hyde
Every Play Weeks 1-3 | Every Play Week 7 | Every Play Week 11
Hyde finally returned from injury in Week 11, and made a splash in his return, to the tune of 95 scrimmage yards and a rushing score. He played 70% of the offensive snaps, which is the highest snap percentage any Seahawks RB has logged in 2020, and he made rookie DeeJay Dallas completely irrelevant. The only factor holding Hyde back from being a weekly must-start is the news that Chris Carson is “likely” to return to the field in Week 12. However, Hyde still has a chance to get one more week of start-worthy workload, as there is no guarantee that the Seahawks will fully turn the reins back over to Carson during his first action in over a month. Week 12 brings an away matchup with the Eagles, which is not great on paper, but any RB on this offense has the potential to produce regardless of matchup, and the stagnant Eagles offense should allow lots of possession time for Seattle to work with.

Frank Gore
Every Play Weeks 1-3 | Every Play Weeks 4-7 | Every Play Weeks 8-11
This will not be a popular take, but Gore has actually looked good on tape this year. The main problem has been the dreadful offensive line of the Jets, combined with questionable playcalling. Gore has elite vision, as his literal decades of experience help make toting the rock second nature to him, and he still packs a punch as a power runner. While he takes a few extra steps to get revved up, he still has great wiggle, and sets up his poor blocking well with lots of hesitation and headfakes. When actual running lanes appear, he simply doesn't miss them, although his lack of top-end speed limits him to bursts of 15 yards on good runs. With the news of La’Mical Perine’s high ankle sprain, Gore might see a workhorse role at the ripe age of 37. Perine was forced out of the game early in Week 11, and Gore was able to set season highs in scrimmage yards and snap percentage, as well as receiving his highest touch total since Week 2. His goalline plunge marked Gore’s first touchdown of the season, and it should be noted that Perine vultured a touchdown run on the game's first possession. Gore headed to the sideline after taking a hard helmet shot to the kneecap, on a good run that brought the Jets down to the 5-yard line with a 1st&Goal, and Perine promptly cashed it in on the next play. While Gore’s season-long 3.6 YPC is less than inspiring, the opportunities should be there for the timeless wonder in Week 12, when the Jets host the Dolphins. In the first meeting between these teams, Gore turned his 15 opportunities into 70 scrimmage yards.

Latavius Murray
When Tay$om Hi!l took over at QB for the Saints, many expected the team to switch up the offensive scheme to fit his skill-set. Nobody could have predicted that the change would lead to Murray being the more involved RB over Alvin Kamara, who was held without a catch for the first time in his career. Murray logged more snaps, targets, catches, and yards than Kamara, although Kamara edged him out in carries 13 to 12. This could have been a product of the QB change, but it shouldn’t be overlooked that Kamara missed practice time in Week 11 with a foot injury. While the workload being split to this degree will likely be a 1-week fluke, it can’t be ignored that Murray set season highs in snap count and snap percentage (and Kamara set season lows in both) during the same week that Tay$om Hi!l took over at QB. Considering the Saints travel to Denver with Tay$om at the helm again in Week 12, Murray could shine against a Broncos defense which just surrendered 210 rushing yards to the Chargers in Week 11.

Salvon Ahmed
Every Play Week 9 | Every Play Week 10 | Every Play Week 11
Another case of a backup RB playing great while the starter comes off IR, Ahmed looked impressive again in Week 11. He followed up his 44 snaps in Week 10 with 43 against the Broncos, and while his carries dropped from 21 to 12, his targets shot up from 1 to 6. Most of those targets came late in the game, with Ryan Fitzpatrick at the helm, as the Dolphins attempted a last-minute comeback drive. Matt Breida was nearly a complete non-factor in his first action since Week 8, logging a measly 7 snaps, with Patrick Laird actually cutting into Ahmed’s playing time the most (17 snaps). The big caveat is how soon Myles Gaskin will be active, since he was just removed from the IR, where he has been nursing an MCL sprain. Assuming Gaskin misses more time, Ahmed could produce in a big way in his two upcoming matchups with the Jets and Bengals. Ahmed is likely owned in all league formats by now, considering he was on the front of every platform’s Waiver Wire columns for the past two weeks, but if an owner in your league drops him due to Gaskin's presumed return, snap him right up.

J.K. Dobbins
Every Play Weeks 1-5 | Every Play Weeks 6-8 | Every Play Weeks 9-11
Dobbins may have ended up on your waivers after a putrid Week 10, in which the rookie registered only 6 total touches, and logged his lowest snap count in a month. Considering Mark Ingram had returned from injury in Week 10, it seemed reasonable that we were back to avoiding any and all members of the Ravens RBBC. However, Dobbins rebounded in a big way in Week 12’s matchup with the Titans, dominating the snap count and putting up 85 scrimmage yards, to go along with a score. As the Ravens coaching staff continues to kick the tires on the offense, it stands to reason that Dobbins’s versatility would help make the offense less predictable. Dobbins has at least one catch in every game except for his career debut in Week 1, and his two standout games both came when the Ravens afforded him at least 60% of the offensive snaps. While Dobbins is still too risky to start at the moment, especially with his COVID diagnosis sidelining him for the near future, he still has value, and should be owned in deeper leagues.

Nelson Agholor
Every Play Weeks 1-11
Droptimus Prime hasn’t been seeing a ton of targets in his first season with the Raiders, but he seems to be the pass-catcher not named Darren Waller with the best odds of returning value week-to-week. Ruggs is explosive and has flashed elite talent, but he disappears from the box score for long stretches of games, and has a total of 79 receiving yards in the 5 games since his return from injury. Agholor, on the other hand, is coming off of a season-high 9 targets, which ties the highest target total any Raiders pass-catcher has received in 2020 (aside from Waller). He also scored in Week 11, marking his 6th touchdown in 10 games, and he has been extremely close to notching several more scores throughout the season. While Agholor’s snap counts have been in the 40-range for the past 3 weeks, he shouldn’t need more than that to produce in Week 12. The Raiders travel to Atlanta’s dome to beat up on a horrific defense which has allowed the most fantasy points to QBs, and the 3rd most fantasy points to WRs. Derek Carr has quietly been great for real football purposes in 2020, with 7 of his 10 starts resulting in a QBR of at least 107, and he currently sits at #4 in PlayerProfiler’s TotalQBR stat. He should have no problem picking apart the Falcons defense, making Agholor a priority pickup in a shallow waiver week.

Curtis Samuel
Every Play Weeks 1-5 | Every Play Weeks 7-10 | Every Play Week 11
Samuel really shouldn’t have been available on the waiver coming into this week, but a pitiful 8 scrimmage yards in Week 10, combined with news of Teddy Bridgewater’s injury, scared plenty of fantasy managers off of him. The dynamic receiver proved them wrong in Week 11, turning his season-high 10 targets into 70 yards and a score, and logged another rushing attempt, which he has done in every game so far this season. He now has 5 total touchdowns across his last 6 games, and has amassed 46 total opportunities across that same span. Backup quarterback P.J. Walker executed the offense smoothly in Week 11, completing 24 passes, which Bridgewater has only done 4 times this season. He also peppered his top options with targets (Moore:11, Anderson:9, Samuel:10), and it contributed to a dominating shutout win over the hapless Lions. Considering the fact that the Panthers have a bye week in Week 13, Walker may see another start at QB against the atrocious Vikings pass defense in Week 12 while Bridgewater recovers. If that is the case, expect the shifty Samuel to factor into the gameplan heavily again.

Michael Pittman Jr.
Every Play Weeks 1-10 | Every Play Week 11
MPJ followed up his breakout game in Week 10 with some solid efficiency in Week 11. The rookie caught all 3 of his first-half targets for 66 yards, and turned one of them into the first touchdown of his career, on an impressive run after the catch. However, he failed to receive a target in the second half, which was likely a combination of a few factors. The Colts opted to go run-heavy throughout the 3rd quarter, and even into the 4th, despite trailing the Packers by multiple scores, and MPJ seemed to suffer a slight injury on his last catch of the first half. He took an awkward shot to his lower leg on the tackle, and his body language after getting up seemed quite negative considering he had just hauled in a 20-yard completion. However, MPJ stayed in the game to log the most snaps of all Colts WRs, and by a wide margin. In fact, his 67 offensive snaps tied his season-high, and his 80% snap share paced the entire Colts WR corps. He also looked to be open on some deep routes late in the game, but Philip Rivers simply didn’t look his way. Assuming nothing crops up on the injury report, Pittman should be in line to continue his breakout against the Titans, the team which allowed him to go off for 122 total yards in Week 10.

Corey Davis
Every Play Weeks 1-3 | Every Play Weeks 7-8 | Every Play Weeks 9-11
Davis returned from injury in Week 7 to explode for 20 targets, 14 catches, 163 yards, and 2 scores across Weeks 7-8. However, the next two weeks that followed saw Davis amass only 9 total targets, and he turned them into 5 catches for 67 yards, potentially causing him to be dropped in your league. Week 11 was a return to form, as Davis hauled in 5 of 7 targets for 113 yards, and played his highest snap count in a month. He tied fellow WR A.J. Brown in targets, and only trailed him in snap count by 5 plays. Brown is still somewhat of an injury risk, as he is a massive body dealing with a nagging knee injury, and Adam Humphries hasn’t played since taking a brutal headshot in Week 8. As long as Davis himself can stay healthy, he seems to have worked up a solid rapport with Ryan Tannehi!l, and should be owned in all leagues.

Tim Patrick
Every Play Weeks 1-6 | Every Play Weeks 7-11
Despite Drew Lock completing a measly 18 passes in Week 11, Patrick was able to turn in an efficient performance, recording 5 catches for a season-high 119 yards on 8 targets. Most of the yardage came on a last-second fade route that went for 60 yards, when the Broncos were simply trying to burn the final 4 seconds of the game on a 4th down heave. However, Patrick has still looked good despite all of Drew Lock’s troubles, and merits a pickup in deeper leagues. After sitting out Week 8 due to injury, Patrick has logged 23 targets over the past 3 games, but has been overlooked (and probably dropped) by fantasy managers during all of the fanfare for Jerry Jeudy and K.J. Hamler. Standing at 6’4”, Patrick has upside as a huge redzone target, and if he continues to receive a healthy 8 targets per game, he could pay dividends, despite playing in a struggling passing offense. Week 12 brings a home matchup with the imposing Saints defense, which has not been overly impressive against WRs this season, and is not as formidable away from domes.

Eric Ebron
Every Play Weeks 1-7 | Every Play Week 8 | Every Play Weeks 9-11
Ebron has arguably been the top tight end pickup for a few consecutive weeks now, but he may have found his way onto your waivers after a weak 2-38-0 statline in Week 10. The touchdown maven who once scored 13 times in a season is coming on strong with the undefeated Steelers, logging 3 scores in his last 4 games. Ebron also has developed some consistent involvement over the second half of 2020, with 32 targets across the last 5 games. His 70 offensive snaps in Week 11 marked his highest snap count of the season, following a hefty 62 snaps in Week 10. While the Steelers boast a plethora of dangerous pass-catchers, Roethlisberger has regularly looked Ebron’s way in the redzone, where it matters the most for tight ends. Considering that the Steelers keep winning, there shouldn’t be any reason to change up the gameplan, so expect Ebron to continue seeing solid involvement in a lethal passing attack.

Jordan Reed
Every Play Weeks 1-3 | Every Play Weeks 9-10
This one doesn’t feel great, but it is a testament to just how bad the tight end landscape is these days. Reed filled in for George Kittle in Weeks 2-3, while the All-Pro tight end was sidelined with a knee injury. In those games, Reed saw 14 targets, and hauled in 9 of them for 73 yards and two scores. After Week 3, the tight ends switched places, and Kittle returned to play in Weeks 4-8, while Reed was placed on the IR for a knee injury of his own. After Kittle suffered a foot fracture that landed him on the IR, the 49ers activated Reed for Week 9, but did so merely hours before Reed suited up for a Thursday Night Football matchup with the Packers. Unsurprisingly, he was limited to only 13 snaps, and produced a whopping 3 yards. Week 10 saw Reed log a full slate of practices, and he turned in a much more characteristic 5-62-0 line on 6 targets. Although he only played on 31 offensive snaps, notching a modest 44% snap rate, Reed ran a route on 22 plays, 4 more than fellow tight end Ross Dwelley, who played on 37 snaps. Reed also looked fully healthy, coming up with one of the more impressive catches of the season. Coming into Week 12, fresh off the bye week, the once-dominant mismatch could be in line for an uptick in work when the 49ers travel to face the Rams. QB Nick Mullens figures to have little time in the pocket to let deep routes develop against the Rams defensive front, and considering starting WRs Brandon Aiyuk (COVID) and Deebo Samuel (hamstring) are likely to miss the game, Reed could be a huge benefactor. He is always a threat to score when healthy, and this may be the healthiest he has been (or will be) all season.

Dalton Schultz
Every Play Weeks 1-5 | Every Play Weeks 6-11
If not for Dak Prescott’s devastating injury, Schultz may have been the breakout TE of 2020. Of course, the door was only opened for Schultz after Blake Jarwin’s brutal ACL injury in Week 1, so the injury gods giveth just as they taketh. Nonetheless, Schultz has served as a solid safety valve for the stable of Cowboys backup QBs, and could be on the upswing as Andy Dalton settles back in as the starter. Schultz actually saw his worst stretch of games during the Red Rifle’s 3-game stint as starter from Weeks 5-7, only drawing 4 targets per game in that span. In the 6 other games that Schultz has started, he has seen an average of 7.5 targets per game, and he is coming off 3 consecutive games with at least 90% of the offensive snaps. Andy Dalton returned to action in Week 11 for the first time since his Week 7 concussion, and put up his best effort of the season, notching 3 passing scores and a 69% completion percentage (nice) against the atrocious Vikings pass defense. Schultz was not heavily involved early, but Dalton looked his way 4 times during the final drive of the game, culminating in Schultz’s game-winning touchdown catch. The Cowboys will host Washington on Thanksgiving, and while the Football Team has boasted one of the top-ranked pass defenses all season in terms of wide receiver stats, they have actually allowed plenty of fantasy points to tight ends, as opposing offenses are forced to look to them for passing production.
