I have tried the following steps on a Gigabyte Brix XM1-3537 PC and it failed miserably. I had to play with CSM. When CSM is fully disabled, it POSTs but my SSD doesn't get detected so I just end up in the BIOS screen. It either doesn't post at all or it won't pick up the SSD basically. When I finally got it to boot - there was no video, the only way I managed to see that it was working was via VNC. This is when I had to use HWInfo to find out that it's out of available PCI-E lanes (Device manager error Code 12) While there are guides there on how to move resources and manually manage the PCI-E bifurcation, I just simply called it quits for that particular machine wasn't meant for it anyway. This was more of an experiment for the laptops.

- Disable the internal dedicated GPU in device manager and do a DDU. In my case, the laptop had a GeForce 540M.
Hardware setup:
- Prior to purchase run HWInfo and sum up your PCI-E lanes to ensure that you still have enough left over when you install your eGPU.
- Open up the laptop locate the wifi adapter (in my case it was just under the keyboard so I didn't have to do a full dismantle). Hint: it typically indicate the MAC address on a sticker. Tape up the 2 antenna wires and remove the card by unscrewing the holding screws.
- Plug the mpcie data cable into the mpcie port where the wifi card was and the hdmi end to the EXP GDC dock.
- Plug the PSU bits: 4+4 CPU connector to power the EXP GDC, 20+4 connector to the respective connector with one green wire (this is to start up the PSU once it senses the laptop is power up). There were suggestions to get the PSU to be always powered up using the paper clip trick but i simply didn't have issues that need that hack.
- Install the video card driver. The version that I found that never ends up on a BSOD is 372.70 (big fan of Linus Tech Tips but they skipped this on their review of this dock that's why they couldn't get it to work). Follow through the setup (I skipped the GeForce experience - I hate the fact that they now changed this to have a log in like the Razer Synapse software. Yes, they track you.) and reboot.

- Plug in your USB into USB Flash Port.
- To make a windows bootdisk (Windows 7/8/8.1) Select NTFS as file system from the drop down

- Boot from USB on desired machine and done!
Here's what to do if you continue to get "Windows is not genuine" error even though you've inserted a new key, this only works for any edition of Windows 7 (You will need a new key)
